Cora Carriere, a junior at Gibraltar, has been selected to perform in the highly esteemed Wisconsin State Music Association (WSMA) High School Honors Orchestra. This prestigious recognition highlights Cora's exceptional musical abilities and hard work.
The WSMA High School Honors Orchestra brings together the most accomplished high school musicians from across Wisconsin. Following a rigorous audition process, these exceptional individuals have the privilege of performing in an ensemble that represents the pinnacle of musical excellence.
Cora has not only excelled in music but has also been an inspiration to her peers as a dedicated student. She helps manage the uniforms and assist’s Mr. Eckhardt with the 7th grade band.
Cora's musical abilities have been mentored by Mary Bell, her private flute teacher. Mary has been teaching flute students in Northern Door County for 20 years and has inspired numerous flutes to achieve at high levels.
The highly rigorous audition requirements set a high bar for all applicants. Statewide, 72 flute players auditioned. 13 were selected for the band, and 4 were selected for the orchestra. Cora is one of those 4.
Cora will attend a summer clinic with the director and the rest of the orchestra to prepare for a performance in the Overture Center in Madison Wi. The performance is one of the culminating events at the Wisconsin Music Educators Conference on October 26th, 2023. A recording of the concert will air on Wisconsin Public Television around the Christmas holiday season.
