MS Honor Band tryouts

Gibraltar Middle School students proved their musical prowess at this year's Wisconsin School Middle Level Honors project auditions. With the highest number of Gibraltar participants since 2006, eight talented students showcased their instrumental skills. Among them, two were selected, two were prioritized alternates, and three were recognized as alternates. This accomplishment not only highlights the exceptional hard work and dedication of these young musicians but also reflects Gibraltar Middle School's dedication to fostering musical excellence.

Out of the eight Gibraltar Middle School students who auditioned, two students secured positions in the Wisconsin School Middle Level Honors band. Mia Glocke on trumpet and Olive Wisniewski on horn.

Gibraltar also had two students named as prioritized alternates and three chosen as alternates.  The audition process is highly rigorous, and being recognized as alternates is a significant accomplishment, highlighting their musical abilities. Steven Prescott (trumpet) and Luke McCormack (trombone) were prioritized alternates, while Katja Nelson (clarinet), Clara Carriere (clarinet) and Victor Soriano (bass clarinet) were selected as alternates.

The success of Gibraltar Middle School students at the Wisconsin School Middle Level Honors auditions is a testament to the school's dedication to fostering the 4 A’s (academics, activities, arts and athletics). Part of that dedication is directly reflected by allowing time for small group lessons to happen during the course of a school day.  These pull out lessons are essential for individual instrumental development.

Participating in the Wisconsin School Middle Level Honors project auditions provides students with invaluable experiences and opportunities for growth. It allows them to showcase their skills, gain exposure to a wider audience, and learn from talented peers and instructors. The musical journey taken through these auditions can boost students' confidence and inspire them to continue pursuing their musical passions.
