In a world where students with outstanding academic achievements or success in athletics are consistently recognized through awards such as honor roll or conference/team awards, we often hear people say, “What about the kind students?” At Gibraltar, we certainly value kindness and believe that it is one of our core values as a secondary school. As such, our HS Peer Leaders and PBIS committee nominate a "Kind Student of the Month" who has access to a pristine parking spot in our lot for one month. This year, we thank our friends at The Thirsty Cow who are offering a free burger to our Kind Student of the Month! Juniors and seniors are considered for nomination. Our November Kind Student of the Month is Vince Toneys!

Elementary Principal Lauren Ward made a challenge and a promise to the students last spring: if they passed 65% proficiency on the Wisconsin Forward test, she would dye her hair Viking colors. The results are in! 76% of students scored Advanced or Proficient in English Language Arts and 81% of students scored Advanced or Proficient in math. Mrs. Ward made good on her promise and we are so proud of our teachers and students!

UNITED ARE REGIONAL CHAMPIONS!
For the first time since 2010, Gibraltar/Sevastopol United are WIAA Boys Soccer Division 4 Regional Champions! The #6 seed United won their match on Saturday, October 26 against #3 Amherst, defeating the host Falcons 1-1 (4-3).
Amherst took the lead during the first half off a header (28'). United came out of the halftime break fired up, and junior Damien Lardinois netted the equalizer within the first minute of the second half (41'). The contest remained tied for the remainder of the 80-minute match and the 20 minutes of overtime, sending the fate of the game to a shootout.
Lardinois and United seniors Trey Perlman and Gabe Peterson each netted successful tries. A miss by the Falcon's fifth shooter set the stage for United junior Mauricio Fernandez to bury his kick into the back of the net and secure the thrilling, come-from-behind championship victory.

The second-grade students celebrated the end of their first Module of Learning. They learned about different types of schools around the world and why schools are important. They presented a song, three readers' theater performances, and their "The Most Important Thing About Schools" book to the kindergartener classes.

CONSTRUCTION INSTRUCTION!
Gibraltar first graders were treated to a presentation by CGSchmidt, our renovation company. Supervisor/Project Managers shared their knowledge of construction tools with the students. The first graders connected this information to classroom learning as they recently completed the EL module “Tools and Work”. Afterward, the first graders presented their classroom creations to each other.

ENGINEERING CATAPULTS!
Mr. Burress’s 4th-grade class has been working on engineering catapults during their flex times. Check out these pictures—it's fun and educational stuff!

Another “LOOK CLOSE” moment! During Tree Talks this week, Mr. Roets’ Psychology class gained a new friend. Now that’s an interesting psychological discussion! Cool? Or No Way! Another amazing learning experience brought to us by Friends of Gibraltar Schools.

LOOK CLOSE! Sixth graders had a visitor during Forest Day today. Mr. Ortmayer shares, "It was actually 3 deer that walked within 10 yards of students while they were digging pitfall traps to gather data about insects living in the forest." Such great experiences! Thank you Friends of Gibraltar Schools.

Cake Week in Mr. Roets' AP US Government Class!
When talking about Federalism, what does the AP US Government class do? They make cake!! Students researched and reported on historical and current issues (e.g. voting rights, taxation, guns, and environmental policy) regarding the federal and state powers and baked cakes demonstrating the types of federalism (Dual federalism—- layer cake; cooperative federalism—-marble cake).

Third graders had a great day with the Ephraim Historical Society learning about Door County’s history! They got to visit the Iverson house, the old school house, and hug a really old walnut tree! Special thanks to the Ephraim Historical Society for an enriching day and Wilson’s for a yummy treat!

Spirit Week 2024 was amazing! The weather was perfect. The Pep Rally and Class-on-Class competitions were crazy fun. We enjoyed the cook-out, sporting events, dress-up days, successful food drive, dance, and the parade! We appreciate the support of our Administration, staff, community, and students. For a big look at a big week, visit the Gibraltar Area School District Facebook page's 2024 Spirit Week photo album. Congratulations to Queen Rubi Jauregui and King Will Lecy.
